Ssonic Petroleum, a leading Nigerian energy firm, successfully concluded its participation as a key exhibitor at the 21st International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG2026) held in Doha. The event served as a global stage for Ssonic to showcase its high-priority midstream project: a state-of-the-art 80 MMSCFD LNG liquefaction plant currently under construction in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos.

The Ssonic exhibition booth became a focal point for international energy stakeholders, drawing a diverse audience of global utility providers, energy traders, and technology partners. The company’s presence signaled a significant milestone in its strategic evolution, transitioning from its established roots in the upstream sector to becoming a major infrastructure owner and LNG producer.
“Our participation at LNG2026 in Doha is a testament to Ssonic’s commitment to bridging the gap between Nigeria’s vast gas reserves and the global energy market,” said Mrs Ifeoma Douglas, MD/CEO of Ssonic Petroleum. “As our facility in Lekki continues to take shape, the overwhelming interest from international partners here in Doha confirms that we are on the right path to becoming a vital link in theglobal energy supply chain.”

A major highlight of the event was a visit to the Ssonic booth by a high-level delegation from the Nigerian Ministry of Petroleum Resources, led by the Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo. The Minister’s engagement with the Ssonic team underscored the project’s strategic alignment with the Federal Government’s “Decade of Gas” initiative, which aims to maximize domestic gas utilization and expand Nigeria’s export footprint. Other dignitaries include – Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, Authority Chief Executive (ACE) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Dr Philip Mshelbila – Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Representatives from NLNG, Officials from NCDMB
The Ssonic LNG facility is designed with a dual-impact strategy:
-
Global Export (90%): Leveraging its coastal bordering location for direct export to high-demand markets in Europe and Asia.
-
Domestic Energy Security (10%): Allocating critical capacity to fuel Nigerian power plants and industrial hubs.
The project, which features a modular two-train system (40 MMSCFD each), is currently in the construction phase and remains on track for full commissioning in Q4 2027. With a 20-year secured feedstock agreement with NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), Ssonic is positioned for long-term operational stability and growth.
